Visit Seattle
Mother Nature’s City

Partnering with advertising agency Copacino Fujikado and production company Kontent Partners, I brought my directorial vision to the second year of Visit Seattle’s Mother Nature’s City campaign. The challenge was to evolve the creative while preserving the character’s distinctive personality. We developed an AI-powered production pipeline to previsualize Mother Nature’s movements before filming, allowing us to capture more footage efficiently on set. In post-production, we brought the character to life using Blender alongside AI-enhanced animation techniques. The project expanded my understanding of how emerging technologies can streamline workflows, enhance creative possibilities, and push the boundaries of commercial production.

Pre-Visualization

Shown here are several AI-driven tests I developed in preproduction to explore how lighting and camera movement could elevate the character and bring a new level of cinematic sophistication to the campaign.

Movement Exploration

I also experimented with the character’s physicality, exploring everything from subtle facial movements to the way leaves, ferns, and foliage responded to her movement. I tested different approaches to her dress, asking whether it should feel sculptural and rigid or flow gracefully like a wedding gown. Each exploration was an opportunity to consider Mother Nature through the eyes of a potential Seattle visitor: What would make her feel most captivating, approachable, and memorable? The goal was to create a character who felt both magical and inviting, inspiring people to discover Seattle for themselves.
