Amazon
Delivering Rainbows

In the middle of the lockdown, her imagination sparked, my daughter asked my wife if she might order some art supplies from Amazon—sidewalk chalk, construction paper, paint, all items she hoped to use to spread joy to her family and friends. My wife agreed, and the smiling box arrived on our doorstep the following morning. My daughter’s altruism inspired a homespun production that eventually led to a commercial and social campaign that gave people hope in a dark period.

We are in this together

During that time, I was reminded that kindness can come in all shapes and sizes, and sometimes the smallest gesture can spread a message of hope. In a similar tone as Amazon’s “Triumph of the Everyday Hero” spots, I helped film the process of two families creating sidewalk art—from the purchase on Amazon through the final reactions of the artwork’s intended recipients. This was a montage of moments set to music that was captured in a UGC style. It was something that a colleague and I executed quickly and with the tools that we had at our disposal.
